Iran Sees $30 Billion From Future Tourism


LONDON—The deal struck between Iran and six world powers over its nuclear program should see sanctions against the country beginning to ease by next year – and Iranians are hoping the lifting of travel restrictions could prompt an influx of international tourists. Travel agencies already are seeing an increase in demand.With its ancient architecture, breathtaking landscapes and warm people, tour companies describe Iran as one of the unexplored jewels of the Middle East.

But the country’s isolation since the 1979 Islamic Revolution has seen visitor numbers from the West fall. The latest figures show only 90,000 arrivals from North America and the European Union in 2013.

European Tourists of Iran Tripled

 

TEHRAN, Aug. 13(MNA) – An Iranian official released the figures depicting growth in number of Europeans visiting Iran.
Deputy Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) announced that the number of European tourists visiting Iran in last Iranian year (March 21, 2014- March 21, 2015) in comparison with the year before has tripled.

Iran on The Way to Turn Tourism into Industry

 

TEHRAN – Iran’s tourism is on the way to turn into an industry, the deputy director for development affairs of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Organization (CHTHO) told a press conference on Sunday. 
"As an industry, tourism should be profitable to attract investors of private sector,” Saeid Shirkavand said. Shirkavand said that the CHTHO has begun some negotiations with the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines to encourage financiers in tourism industry.

European Tourist Train to Enter Iran Through Turkey Border

 

TEHRAN – Rail services between Tehran and Ankara will resume operating for the entrance of British long-distance Golden Eagle Luxury Train in early September. At the end of July, Iran suspended train services between Ankara and Tehran after two bomb blasts on the railway in eastern Turkey.

Boost for Iran Tourism

 

The UK Foreign Office has lifted its advice for Iran signalling hopes for the country’s tourism industry.In a statement on its website, the FCO said it had lifted its advice for most parts of the country, although it warned that it was continuing to advise against all travel to some border areas and parts of the south-east.It comes after Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said last week that he hoped to reopen the British embassy in Tehran before the end of the year, which was also expected to facilitate leisure visits to the country.

Iran’s tourism to grow by 6.6% in 2015


The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) in a recent report has put the value of Iran’s tourism industry for 2014 at about $7.8 billion.The WTTC in its report titled "Travel & Tourism: ECONOMIC IMPACT 2015 IRAN” has added that it expects Iran’s tourism industry to grow by 6.6 percent in 2015.
